Christmas Markets are immense popular all across the world. But for most readers in places like the US and Australia, they are just too far away for a quick visit. Luckily for them more and more cities in the US are now organising Christmas Markets to attract more shoppers to their town and shopping centre.

Union Square Market – New York

From the 16th of November until the 24th of December 2012 the 18th Annual Union Square Holiday Markets are held right in the centre of New York. Over 100 stalls offer a wide variety of traditional and more modern gifts, you are bound to find the perfect Christmas gifts for your friends and family. The Union Square Holiday Markets are open from Monday till Friday between 11am and 8pm, on Saturday from 10am until 8pm and on Sunday from 11am until 7pm.

Christmas Village in Philadelphia

From Thanksgiving through to Christmas Eve the Love Park in downtown Philadelphia will transform into a traditional German Christmas Market. Over 60 stalls will sell traditional European gifts, food and drinks. As every true Christmas market it will be a perfect place to buy your Christmas gifts with a wider offer of ornaments, jewelry and crafts. A big Christmas three decorated with thousands of lights will ensure the unique Christmas atmosphere. Topped off with the delicisous smell of bratwurst, mulled wine and gingerbread to bring you in the Christmas mood

The grand opening ceremony will be held on Saturday the 24th of November and Christmas tree lighting ceremony by Mayor Michael Nutter will take place on the 5th of December. The market is open from the 22nd of November until the 24th of December. Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 7pm and Friday and Saturday from 11am to 8pm. Admission is free.

Downtown Holiday Market, Washington DC

From the 30th of November until the 23rd of December Washington DC is in Christmas mood and the the Downtown Holiday Market is definitely on of the reasons for it. Over 175 artisans, crafters and boutique businesses are forming the 8th annual downtown holiday market on the F Street sidewalk in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum & National Portrait Gallery between 7th and 9th Street.

Live entertainment, great snacks and festival treats are available while you are shopping for your entertainment. The market is open between noon and 8pm daily, between the 8th of November and 23rd of December.
